Call Ahead For Great Pizza!


This was one of the places that I had read about in the GQ article by Alan Richman that named the top 25
pizzas in the USA. So naturally I knew two things going in; one, that it would most likely be a Neapolitan style pizza (because that’s all he seems to like), and two, it would be darn good one at that.

Suffice it to say, the brick oven pizza was definitely old school Neapolitan as expected, and in this category, Richman’s selection once again delivers as the pizza was indeed excellent.

As far as Richman’s list goes, Tacconelli’s Pizzeria ties Bob & Timmy’s (Providence, RI) as the least pretentious family run restaurant on his list. I loved the warm, friendly service and the genuine feeling of eating pizza with the neighborhood locals and their families. 

I was unaware of the preordering policy to call ahead and reserve your dough, fortunately I went on night when it wasn’t an issue and they gladly made up two pizzas that my family and I devoured and that my son still talks about today.

If your in Philly and haven't been here yet, get there. Because you’ve probably missed the best Neapolitan style pizza in town, and one place that so far, is one the tastiest pizza’s that I’ve had off Richman’s list.  And if you do go, be sure call ahead.
