Iron Works Tavern - Warwick, RI

Overpriced, bad hotel food

Adjoining the Hilton Garden Inn next door is what seems like a stand alone restaurant in a vintage building called the Iron Works Tavern.

It's a great space where the tables all revolve around a large central bar, so the seating is in a big wide open bar area. It is a nice looking bar, but the restaurant is not upscale, private or quiet in any way.

I ordered the 10 oz (petite) Fillet Mignon which cost $32 and asked for it to be cooked medium. My steak was served rare (not cool) in the center, had a cruddy brown color on the outside and was grey (well) in between. In other words my ridiculously expensive little cut of meat looked to be cooked from frozen!

Upon my complaint, the cook came out and offered to "throw it back on the fire to make it more medium", not realizing that the outside was already well done, and the center was rare. This meat was really unsalvageable by more grilling! It was by far the worst steak I've been served in Providence.

For these kinds of prices I strongly suggest, no I implore you to go to the Capital Grill or Ruth's Chris instead.
